Upgrade your home or building with Casco Storm Windows, a cost-effective alternative to full window replacement. Designed to add an extra layer of insulation and durability to aluminum, aluminum-clad, or wood windows, Casco Storm Windows help lower energy costs, reduce drafts and condensation, and block outdoor noise—creating a more comfortable indoor environment.

By adding a storm window, an insulating barrier of air forms between the existing window and the storm product, enhancing thermal efficiency much like insulating glass. This extra layer helps reduce heat loss, minimize drafts, and improve energy performance, all without the need for a full window replacement.

Built with heavy-duty aluminum extrusions for long-lasting durability, Casco Aluminum Storm Windows are available in the same color options as Casco Aluminum Storm Doors and the Aluminum Porch Enclosure System, ensuring a seamless, coordinated look across all storm protection products.

Ideal for historic renovations, energy-efficient home upgrades, commercial buildings, and government projects, Casco Aluminum Storm Windows are available in a variety of styles—including double hungs, sliders, and picture windows—making them a versatile solution for any project.

Casco products are sold through our nationally supported dealer network, ensuring expert guidance every step of the way. LoE-x89® is a neutral color exterior glass surface coating (indium tin oxide) which reduces outdoor glass condensation. LoE-x89® is designed to be used on surface #1 to reduce heat loss and the occurrence of the glass falling below the dew point. This reduces the opportunity for exterior condensation to occur. In addition, LoE-x89® has a titanium dioxide coating which keeps the exterior glass surface cleaner for a longer period.

    Dimensions

Casco can accept storm window dimensions in two ways: by opening size or by exact tip-to-tip frame size. The window opening refers to the area the storm window will either fit inside, which is typical for Blind Stop Frames, or cover over, which is typical for Overlap Frames. The drawings below show both frame styles for reference.

    Blind Stop Frame

    • Opening Size Width - 1/8" = Tip-to-Tip Width of the Storm Window
    • Opening Size Height - 1/8" = Tip-to-Tip Height of the Storm Window, Including the Sill Expander at Its Most Compressed Position

    Overlap Frame

    • Opening Size Width + 1" = Tip-to-Tip Width of the Storm Window
    • Opening Size Height + 1/2" = Tip-to-Tip Height of the Storm Window, Including the Sill Expander at Its Most Compressed Position
Note: If the storm window includes a sill expander, Casco will make the necessary adjustments to incorporate the expander into the final overall window dimensions. Customers should not compensate for the expander unless unusual project conditions require it.

    How to Measure

    Opening Width Measurement:

    • Measure the width of the window opening at three points: top, middle, and bottom.
    • Use the smallest measurement to help avoid fit issues.

    Opening Height Measurement:

    • Measure the height of the window opening at three points: left, center, and right.
    • Use the smallest measurement to help avoid fit issues.

    Tip-to-Tip Frame Dimension Optional:

    • Customers may also provide the exact tip-to-tip frame dimensions instead of the opening size.
    • For width, measure or provide the outermost tip of the frame flange.
    • For height, measure from the top of the frame flange to the bottom of the sill expander.

    Sill Expander Options:

    • Two sill expander options are available: 7/8" and 1-1/2".
    • The correct sill expander should be selected based on the existing window sill condition.

    Measurement Notes:

    • Double-check all measurements before ordering.
    • Account for any irregularities in the existing window opening.
    • Providing either opening dimensions or tip-to-tip frame dimensions allows Casco to build the storm window to the proper size.
    • Consider the existing sill height and slope when selecting the correct sill expander option.

    Frame, Flange, and Sightline Reference

The chart below provides reference dimensions for the storm window frame, including the install flange size, frame depth, and visible sightline dimensions. These details help identify how the storm window mounts, how far the frame projects from the mounting surface, and how much of the existing opening may be covered by the frame.

Install Flange Size refers to the size of the mounting flange used to fasten the storm window to the blind stop, exterior trim, brickmold, or exterior face of the opening. Frame Depth is measured from the mounting side of the install flange to the outermost surface, or projection, of the storm window. Sightline Dimensions show the exposed frame dimension from the tip of the installation flange to the glass sightline at the head, sill, jamb, and meeting rail or mullion locations. All dimensions are shown in inches and do not include sill expanders.
